A man in his 50s has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition following a multi-vehicle crash north of Brisbane that left a highway partially closed Sunday afternoon.
The southbound lane of the Bruce Highway was closed at Caboolture following a smash between a motorcycle and two other cars near the Pumicestone Rd overpass about 1.30pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one person involved in the wreck was assessed on the scene by critical care paramedics and the High Acuity Response Unit after sustaining suspected head and chest injuries.
The patient was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Bowen Hills in a serious but stable condition with a head injury.
Motorists were delayed for up to 35 minutes as the crash was cleared.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said one crew remained on the scene about 4pm, with the southbound lanes initially expected to reopen by 4.30pm but further delays were anticipated after a separate three-car crash on the highway’s diversion road in Elimbah about 3.40pm.
Five patients were taken to hospital in stable condition following a rollover involving a ute and a four-wheel drive on Beerburrum Road near McDougall Road.
By 9.45pm Beerburrum Rd had reopened and the Bruce Highway was cleared.
