A Brisbane uber driver’s car has been stolen after he was held up at gunpoint while driving two men to a Slacks Creek address early on Monday.

The driver was taking two men to a property on Fir Court about 2am on Monday when the incident occurred.

Police allege that on arrival one of the men threatened the 23-year-old driver with a firearm before stealing his white 2023 Haval with registration plates “722JW5”.

The driver was not hurt and police are appealing for CCTV and dashcam footage of the incident.

An Uber spokeswoman has labelled the incident “shocking” and has condemned the “violent activity” against one of their drivers.

“As soon as we were notified of the incident we contacted the driver-partner to offer our support and are assisting law enforcement with their investigation,” she said.

“We are deeply committed to the safety of driver partners on the Uber app, and have a number of guidelines and features in place with the goal of keeping drivers safe, and provide active support should an incident occur”.

Uber says it has a dedicated team to respond to incidents, which includes former police officers, who are on call to work with police 24/7 to respond to matters and assist in their investigations.
