Brisbane traffic: Motorcycle and bicycle riders injured in separate accidents

A motorcyclist was critical and a bicycle rider serious after separate collisions with vehicles in Brisbane’s north on Thursday.

A motorcyclist was fighting for his life after colliding with a vehicle in Brisbane’s north on Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened outside Westfield Chermside, at the intersection of Gympie and Hamilton roads, about 2.30pm.

Queensland ambulance said the rider had been transported to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with arm, chest and pelvic injuries.

Police warned motorists to expect delays in the area, with over 40 minutes’ congestion on Gympie Rd about 3.40pm.

It followed an earlier collision between in which a bicycle rider became trapped under a car at McDowall in Brisbane’s north.

The accident happened about 2.20pm at the intersection of Beckett Rd and Salvas St.

The rider was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Northbound traffic on Beckett Rd was being diverted between Rode Rd and Hamilton Rd.

Delays of over 15 minutes were being experienced on South Pine, Rode, Hamilton, Lutwyche, and Stafford roads, with a 10km trip taking 37 minute.

TransLink said buses travelling from Brisbane City along Gympie Rd were delayed up to 20 minutes about 3.40pm.
