Brisbane Airport crash: Man killed in crash involving motorcycle and truck on Viola Drive

A man in his 40s has died and police are now appealing for information after a truck collided with a motorcycle near Brisbane Airport earlier today.

Investigators have located the white prime mover involved in a fatal traffic crash near Brisbane Airport on Friday morning.

A police statement said the driver is now assisting detectives with their inquiries into the crash which killed a motorcyclist in his 40s.

Emergency services were called to Viola Pl, near Brisbane Airport, at 5.25am on Friday morning following reports of a crash.

Paramedics were at the scene but no transportation was required, with police confirming a 48-year-old Kippa Ring man died at the scene.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said the truck did not remain at the scene and officers were trying locate it.

Police released footage revealing the moments a truck driver drove off after colliding with a man on motorcycle who was declared deceased at the scene near Brisbane Airport earlier this morning.

“We’re not sure the driver realised he struck the motorcyclist, (so) we are trying to find the driver,” the spokesperson said.

“The forensic crash unit is at the scene at the moment investigating the crash.”

The circumstances around the crash are being investigated.

The truck was a white prime mover and police appealed for public assistance to find the driver to assist with their investigations.

The crash happened about 5km away from the airport terminal in an industrial precinct around 5.25am.

Investigators are still appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist police with their inquiries to come forward.

Anyone who recognises the truck or has relevant information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
