Abandoned apartment metres from The Gabba catches fire again

An abandoned apartment complex has caught fire as specialist crews now work to determine the cause of the blaze.

Kangaroo Point home destroyed by fire

A four storey complex on the corner of Vulture St and Main St in Kangaroo Point was billowing smoke just after midday today.

According to a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman, seven fire fighting crews - some fitted with specialised breathing apparatus - raced to the scene of the blaze within minutes of receiving the triple-0 call.

The spokesman said a fire was located on the ground floor of the building and no-one was located inside.

It was extinguished within half an hour of crews arriving on scene.

The building, which is situated just metres from The Gabba stadium, has caught fire several times previously.

The specialised Fire Investigation Unit, along with the Queensland Police Service will now work to determine the cause of the fire.
