The young families in the fast-growing master planned satellite community of Elliot Springs will be celebrating after the announcement that land had been secured to build a new child care centre.
Located next to the Bruce Highway, 15km south of Townsville, the $1.4bn Elliot Springs development began selling in mid-2017, and has since built over 200 properties to house 700 residents, with plans to construct 10,000 homes for 26,000 residents by 2056.
This week, Developer Lendlease revealed that Townsville’s family-owned and operated daycare centres, Amazing Grace, had secured 2500 sqm of land for an 84 place childcare centre at 2 Kariboe Way, Julago.
Elliot Springs’ new Amazing Grace Early Learning Centre will be the business’ third, adding to centres in Railway Estate and North Ward.
The project’s cost and construction start date were yet to be revealed but Amazing Grace owner John Nawar hoped to welcome the first families by the end of 2025.
Mr Nawar said that the strong population growth in the community was a driver for them to establish themselves early in the project’s vision.
“We at Amazing Grace Early Learning Centre are thrilled to be joining Elliot Springs and the surrounding community,” Mr Nawar said.
“We understand that choosing quality child care is an important decision for families. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, educational environment for children to explore, learn and grow.”
“We are committed to fostering a love of learning, promote respect for diversity, and empower each child to reach their unique potential.”
The new centre was focused on maximising use of the outdoor spaces, outdoor learning and use of the natural environment, with development approval by the council to trade between Monday and Saturday.
With plans to employ around 25 permanent and casual staff at the new centre, he encouraged interested local educators to reach out to discuss job opportunities.
Lendlease Communities Development Director for Elliot Springs Simon Walker said Amazing Grace Early Learning Centre’s addition would be a welcome offering to support the growing number of families in the area.
“The investment our commercial partners are making in the Elliot Springs vision highlights the continuous development and growth of the community.”
