A TOOWOOMBA woman has described the moment she first spotted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as "simply electrifying".
Photographer Cathy Finch was one of the lucky few to nab a room at the Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island this week, allowing her to rub shoulders with royals Harry and Meghan, who were on a tour of the island.
"I must say - I'm not much of a royalist," Ms Finch said.
"But seeing them was fantastic - Meghan seemed so warm and friendly."
Ms Finch was one of 12 Toowoomba locals waiting for the public meet and greet by the Kingfisher Resort jetty yesterday.
They were joined in their wait by the hosts of the Today Show, Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner, who were there to broadcast the event.
A small number of spectators was allowed onto the jetty, however Ms Finch said the group caught many cute moments between the duo from the beach.
"There was royal fever going on hours before they stepped foot on that jetty," Ms Finch said.
"All of us were underneath the jetty, and they stopped along the way and looked over.
"There was a bit of Toowoomba envy going on back home when we posted the photos - it was just such an amazing experience."
Ms Finch said the afternoon weather was perfect during the royal outing, adding that on her many trips to Fraser Island it had never failed to impress.
"I've been going there since I was a baby and I think it's the most wonderful place in the world," she said.
"It was an amazing moment for not just Queensland, but for the Kingfisher Resort too.
"It's an absolute wonder to be able to showcase this place to the world."
Ms Finch used the opportunity to snap many great photos of the pair.
