A shocking video has emerged online revealing a rat the size of a dog crawling around the counter space at popular dumpling restaurant Din Tai Fung, at Westfield food court in Pitt Street.
The 30-second clip posted onto YouTube yesterday reveals a huge rat running around underneath a glass counter where food is served.
A worker from Din Tai Fung at The Star outlet said the Westfield Pitt Street store was closed for cleaning today.
The City of Sydney released a media statement today saying they hadn’t received any complaints about rats at the dumpling bar.
The statement reads: “Earlier today, the City of Sydney was made aware of a video circulating on social media showing a rat at the Din Tai Fung outlet located at Westfield Pitt Street.
“The City had not received any previous complaints about this.”
A City environmental health officer inspected Din Tai Fung this morning and was informed by staff the business had been voluntarily shut down.
“The City has also issued a prohibition order on the business. Din Tai Fung will be permitted to re-open following a satisfactory inspection.”
