COVID-19 doesn’t stand a chance against our bug-busters and their Ghostbusters worthy equipment
It might not look like something out of 1980s classic movie Ghostbusters but for this cleaning company it is their weapon of choice when called in to deep clean Sydney’s COVID-19 buildings.

It’s a big weapon for a small virus — and Matt Markham is the Bill Murray of Sydney, busting bugs with his state-of-the-art smog gun.
Mr Markham is the man you want on your side when your building is infiltrated by the coronavirus.
As part of the BMS Commercial Clean team, he was decked out head to toe in safety gear yesterday — with more than a passing resemblance to Murray and his team of ghostbusters from the ‘80s hit movies.
Equipped with an enormous, hi-tech smog gun, Mr Markham marched into the Cruising Yacht Club at Rushcutters Bay after it was reported one of the club’s board members had come down with the virus.
“The Yacht Club has been a client of ours for 20 years and we’ve prepared the club for royal visits and Oprah was there at one stage so we had to make it perfect then,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“But this is our first pandemic.
“We’ve had to move with the times and be able to service our customers so when a new challenge comes we’ve had to step up.
“I’m just trying to do a job to try and get rid of this coronavirus.”
Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Mr Markham and his business partner Jeff Baggott specialised in detailing hospitality venues — they’re the ones you can thank for ridding your local pub or club of its sticky floors.
But as the seriousness of the pandemic became evident, they sought out deep clean training and purchased the latest gear in the fight against the coronavirus.
“It is very Ghostbusters, that’s a smog gun,” Mr Markham said of the shiny implement emitting mist onto the club’s exterior surfaces.
“We put this special plant based sanitiser in there and just spray it over everything, killing the virus. It’s pretty fun. It’s a good machine.
“We just try our best to use the latest technology.”
Mr Markham and his team power up the smog gun whenever one of their clients calls and pride themselves on being there within the hour.
Aside from that, they have been keeping busy with existing clients who are using the quieter times to get their venues up to pristine standards.
“We’re still maintaining all our normal venues,’’ Mr Markham said.
“But when they get in trouble (with any virus outbreaks) we are available within the hour to get in there and do the deep clean with the fogging guns.
“We were busy during lockdown with venues who were keen to get everything completely detailed and sanitised.
“Royal Oak at Balmain, Gladstone Hotel at Dulwich Hill, Fairfield RSL all went above and beyond and got their entire hotels detailed so they were ready.”
