Country music icon and emerging talent heads to Toowoomba region

The legendary country music artist will be playing some of biggest hits alongside the up and coming muso from Queensland’s songs.

SHE’S been singing since she was just 10-years-old but now the emerging artist is bringing her tour to the region alongside a country music icon.

Up and coming Gold Coast solo artist Lily Grace and country music legend James Blundell are bringing their Annie June tour to the Garden City on Friday.

“I met James late last year and not long after we wrote out first song together – Annie June,” Ms Grace said.

“Everyone loved how the song turned out so now we’re putting together a mini tour and bringing it to Toowoomba, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.”

The talented 15-year-old artist started out by busking at her local markets and used the money she earned to purchase an amplifier to perform at future gigs.

After years of hard work and with the support of others, Ms Grace has come a long way since.

“I do work hard at what I do but James has also given me a foot in the door and I’m incredibly grateful,” she said.

“We’ve been working really hard on this show and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The young musician is excited to return to the region after performing at the same venue earlier this year.

“I played a show at Highfields with Amber Lawrence and Catherine Britt,” Ms Grace said.

“It was an afternoon show but there was a huge crowd turnout and it was so lovely to meet almost everyone after the show.

“Everyone was really nice and Toowoomba is renowned for its interest in country music so we definitely wanted to head back to the region for this tour.”

Ms Grace plans to release a new single in the coming months.

The upcoming show will feature a variety of the pair’s originals, along with new songs and covers too.

Lily Grace and James Blundell will be playing at Highfields Tavern on Friday, July 23.

Doors open at 8.30pm for a 9pm start.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at tickets.oztix.com.au.
