Help is on the way for Townsville families struggling to secure childcare with construction commencing on a second Guppy’s Early Learning Centre in Kirwan.
Located at 203 Greenwood Drive (318 Thuringowa Drive), adjacent to the Thuringowa Village Shopping Centre, the 100-place long day childcare centre will provide a full-range of early learning services for children aged from six weeks to school aged, providing vacation, before, and after school care.
Guppys will also provide high Quality, Government Approved Kindergarten Programs, using the Government-funded, Kindy for All programs.
Privately owned and operated since it was founded 17 years ago, Guppy’s Early Learning Centre has grown steadily to 12 centres throughout Queensland, including it’s other Townsville childcare centre at 3 Marconi St, Wulguru.
Guppy’s Early Learning Centre Managing Director Andrew Parker said construction on the facility was expected to take eight months, with the centre expected to be open late 2024.
The new facility was developed after Guppys identified a shortage of high quality, well-located early learning centres in North Queensland.
“As a privately owned and operated centre, we aim to have the owner on site as much as possible to ensure that personalised care,” Mr Parker said.
“We will be looking to build on the great work done by our wonderful teams by providing extra resourcing, investment in the playgrounds and rooms and most importantly investing in the team to help them become world-class educators. This ensures the children and families have a wonderful childcare experience.”
Mr Parker said their team of experienced early childhood educators provided personalised service to support the whole family, complemented by leading industry trainers in childcare, centre management and workplace assessment and learning.
“This helps provide a purpose-built childcare environment specifically designed for children’s early childhood developmental needs,” he said.
Featuring lots of carparking and airconditioning, the new facility will include larger, well-designed rooms along with a full-service kitchen serving nutritional meals and a huge fish tank full of guppies.
It will have separate, age-appropriate playgrounds, with modern play equipment including exciting outdoor equipment.
A courtesy bus will also operate from the centre, picking up and dropping off to homes and surrounding schools.
