Woman suffers multiple injuries after 10m tumble at Walshs Pyramid walking track
A rescue helicopter has been deployed following a walking injury incident where a woman has fallen 10m down a popular trail south of Cairns. Here’s what we know.

Cairns’ rescue helicopter has been deployed to Walshs Pyramid Walking Track in Gordonvale after a woman fell and suffered multiple injuries.
At 10.20am on Sunday, the woman, in her 50s, fell 10 metres down the Walshs Pyramid track.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said paramedics were in the process of rescuing the woman.
“We have activated the helicopter, made our way in and located a landing area,” she said.
“The woman has suffered multiple abrasions, lacerations, shoulder and head injury but is otherwise doing OK.”
The spokeswoman said the injured woman would be transported to Cairns Hospital for further assessment.
Walshs Pyramid Walking Track has been the site of numerous past injuries and rescue operations involving the Rescue 501 helicopter.
In January 2022, a 25-year-old Gordonvale man passed away while hiking Walshs Pyramid with friends due to a medical episode.
In 2020, a hiker was winched and rescued from Walshs Pyramid while a fire was burning at the mountain.
In 2016 a British tourist plunged 8m down the mountain.
