Paramedics have been called to a Far North waterfall in response to reports that a young woman fell from a significant height.
At 12.10pm Queensland Ambulance Service received an emergency call after a woman fell in the area of Clamshell Falls.
“Paramedics are responding to what was initially reported as a fall of 8m, but that is unconfirmed,” a spokesman said.
The woman is believed to be aged in her late teens.
Paramedics responded with lights and sirens to the series of waterfalls at the end of Behana Gorge Rd in Aloomba, however when arriving the woman turned out not to be seriously injured and declined Queensland Ambulance Service assistance.
Behana Creek flows off the western slopes of Mt Bellenden Ker, Queensland’s second highest mountain, and has been the site of numerous rescues and fatalities in recent years.
Most recently ‘father figure’ of the Far North paddling community, Petr Hanzak, was rescued from Behana Gorge in January this year while paddling and later died.
