Where to vote in FNQ: Full list of polling booths

Find out where your local polling station in FNQ or how to vote by phone if you are Covid-positive this weekend.

Croc polling

UPDATE 4pm: Covid-positive residents will be able to phone in their votes on May 21.

On Friday the Australian Electoral Commission confirmed that eligibility for telephone voting formally expanded following their recommendation early on May 20.

People who have tested positive to Covid after 6pm on Friday 13 May are now eligible.

To register for the service go to the AEC website.

You must register by 4pm AEST on election day and have until 6pm local time to call and vote.

Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers said every single Australian who had tested positive to Covid either had been or would be, able to access their vote.

“With many jurisdictions internationally not offering voting services for Covid+ voters during the pandemic, we’re proud to be delivering the combination of safe and secure voting services for all voters,” Mr Rogers said.

“We heard from community members who did not apply for a postal vote before the deadline, we acted to extend the phone voting service and all Covid+ voters can vote in the election.”

If you have an inquiry, call the AEC on 13 23 26 (note this is not the phone voting number).

Call 1800 413 960 to cast your vote once you are prepared and have received your telephone voting registration number.

Earlier: AS we get closer towards the pointy end of the election, here’s where to cast your vote if you need to do so in the electorates of Leichhardt and Kennedy in Far North Queensland on May 21.

Vision impaired voters

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) said that in the 2022 federal election, voters who are blind or have low vision can cast a vote using a dedicated phone service from any location.

AEC voting assistants are available to assist callers.

Telephone voting registration is available on weekdays until Friday May 20 and is available from 8am to 12 midday AEST Saturday May 21.

To register, call 1800 913 993 and callers will be asked questions to check details on the electoral roll, and will be asked to choose a PIN.

Covid positive voters

The AEC said if you have tested positive for Covid after 6pm Tuesday, you can still apply for a postal vote until 6pm Wednesday May 18, or you will be able to register for a secure telephone vote.

More information on what to do will be available from the AEC when phone registration starts at 6.01pm on Wednesday May 18.
