Two 12-year-old girls, who between them have racked up more than 100 charges, have faced court for an alleged violent armed robbery on Christmas Eve in a Cairns suburb.
Four youths, aged between 12 and 16, were charged following investigations into the alleged armed robbery of a 30-year-old woman at Freshwater on December 24.
Police allege the woman was sitting in her parked vehicle on Canopy Close around 1am when the group of teens approached her vehicle and allegedly forcibly removed her from the drivers seat.
One offender allegedly produced a knife and threatened the woman.
It is alleged the teens attempted to start the woman’s car but were unsuccessful, and fled the scene after stealing her handbag, keys, and mobile phone.
The woman was treated at the scene for bruising and swelling.
As part of the group two 12-year-old Cairns girls were charged with armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and common assault.
They were refused bail and appeared before the Cairns Childrens Court on Thursday.
In court it was revealed that one sibling is facing a total of 37 charges including three of armed robbery in company.
Her matters were adjourned to January 23 where some charges will be committed to the Childrens Court of Queensland.
Her legal counsel did not make an application for bail and she was remanded in custody.
The second girl is facing a total of 66 charges in the courts including four charges of armed robbery.
Her matters were adjourned to January 21 and remanded in custody with no bail application made on her behalf.
Some of her charges will also be committed to the Childrens Court of Queensland.
