Tributes for outback rigger killed in Mount Isa buggy rollover
A Cairns-based outback rigger known for his love of fishing, hunting and chasing off road adventures has been remembered as “one of the best” following a fatal buggy rollover.

A Cairns-based outback rigger known for his love of fishing, hunting and chasing off road adventures has been remembered as “one of the best” following a fatal buggy rollover.
Travis Dupuy, known as Trav to his mates, was killed in the early hours of Sunday, June 23.
Emergency services were called to Moondarra Drive, at Lanskey after Mr Dupuy crashed and rolled a buggy near Ryan Road.
Paramedics attempted resuscitating the 49-year-old Gordonvale man but he was later declared dead at the scene.
The rigger and long term Dawsons Engineering employee was working at Mount Isa when tragedy struck.
A roadside memorial, complete with Bundaberg Campfire cans, has been erected by his mates out west who have mourned the loss of a well-liked and respected outdoorsman.
“Genuine bloke gone way to early, RIP mate,” Owen Cox said.
Keagan Mountney simply posted “one of the very best!” with broken heart emojis.
An avid traveller with a passion for exploring the Cape York Peninsula, a dog lover, mad keen fisherman, crabber and pig hunter, Mr Dupuy died while enjoying bush living with mates on the banks of the Leichhardt River.
“Sad news – a Gordonvale man passed doing what he loved, RIP Trav, condolences to all family and friends,” Elaine Carr posted to social media.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash, described as a single vehicle incident.
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

Mr Dupuy is the tenth person to be killed on Far Northern roads since the beginning of the year which is a minor increase on the nine fatalities to June 23 in 2023.
Statewide 136 have lost their lives this year on the roads in a sharp increase on the 119 people killed last year.
