TODAY’S NEWS

Break and enter, Aeroglen

Police are investigating a break and enter at the home of an 88-year-old woman at Aeroglen.

The woman woke at 6am on Thursday, October 13, to a noise in her Magee St house. She told police that she saw a male who fled the house with a money box.

Police believe the man entered the house through a rear door.

Police have not yet made any arrests or laid any charges in connection to the matter.

The woman was not injured during the break-in.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Sheridan St Crash

Two lanes of sheridan St have been closed following an vehicle accident at 11:40 this morning.

Police and QFES attended the intersection of Sheridan St and Gatton St opposite Cairns State High after a four vehicle incident.

Two trucks have collided near the lights and two other vehicles have been caught up in the incident.

There was only minor damage to vehicles and the incident has since been cleared and traffic is moving freely once again.

No injuries have been reported.

MONDAY’S NEWS

The windows of five more vehicles parked around Earlville Shopping Town have been smashed up overnight.

Police are appealing for the public’s assistance as they investigate the carnage that has come just a week after a pair of Mooroobool boys were charged for damaging more than six vehicles, stealing cash and mobile phones, at the same location.

Police have urged any witnesses to the latest incident to contact them, quoting this reference number: QP2201175437.

Cape Tribulation / Kimberley

Roadworks have been reported on Cape Tribulation Bloomfield Road at Cape Tribulation / Kimberley

Long delays are expected in both directions towards Wujal Wujal.

Coen / Laura

The Peninsula Developmental Road is subject to a 5 Tonne GVM limit from Laura to Coen due to water over the road.

Edmonton/Gordonvale

Roadworks are being carried out on the Bruce Highway — Cairns Southern Access Corridor — Stage 3: Edmonton to Gordonvale. Delays expected (during active hours of work), with all lanes in both directions affected. The work is expected to run until June 30, 2023.

Feluga

Major intersection upgrade at East Feluga Road and Bruce Hwy. Delays are expected to August 12, 2022.

Lake Eacham

Wrights Creek Road is closed to all traffic. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.

Ravenshoe

Roadworks have been reported at Grigg St, Ravenshoe and are expected to December 12, 2022.

Wrights Creek

Hill Road Closed permanently from the Bruce Highway to Harris Road to December 2024.
