A YOUNG Cairns woman will be among the participants in the history-making season of the Bachelorette which begins this week.
Business developer, Ritu Chhina grew up in Kanimbla and went to Cairns State High School.
Ms Chhina said living in Cairns had made her a great people person.
“I chose to do the show because I am a queer person of colour, “ Ms Chhina said.
“When I found out there was a show that was going to have men and women, it was queer orientated and I thought it was my opportunity to get involved as a person.”
The Bachelorette this year is well known Indigenous Australian Brooke Blurton who is bisexual.
Ms Chhina said she would not have applied this year if she didn’t know Brooke was in it already.
If Ms Chhinna was lucky enough to take Brooke on a date in the Far North she said it would be on a picnic at either Crystal Cascades or Barron Falls.
The Bachelorette Australia will premiere Wednesday October 20 at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
