PetStock Cairns and Smithfield are not kitten around when it comes to finding forever homes for the region’s four-legged friends.
Cairns store manager Matt Lergesner said the adoption drive on March 22 and 23 was part of National Pet Adoption Month.
“Obviously there’s a lot of animals ... 10,000 animals in foster care at the moment, all looking for new homes,” Mr Lergesner said.
The two-day adoption drive, to be held at PetStock’s Cairns and Smithfield locations, will include puppies from Remote Animal Assistance and AdoptMe Kittens.
“We’ll bring in a few of the young puppies that they have, that are looking for rehoming,” he said.
He said most animals in foster care were often surrendered due to outside circumstances.
“A lot of them are in here because of circumstances beyond their control … somebody found themselves unable to care for them anymore so they’ve had to surrender them,” he said.
“So these animals obviously deserve a great home and they’re great for companionship.”
The adoption drive will run from 10am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
