BULLRIDERS have returned to the Far North from across the country to compete at the PBR invitational at Cairns Convention Centre on Saturday.
Twenty-two riders will be competing to make it into the top-eight and compete in the tour finals in November.
PBR general manager Glenn Young said he is happy to be in Cairns again.
“Coming back to a destination like this in the middle of winter, where else would you want to be?” he said.
In 2021 PBR Australia had 1.6 million viewers and continues to grow.
Mr Young said they are expecting a very healthy attendance.
“We always get a good crowd in Cairns and ticket sales have been very strong and already exceeded our expectations,” he said.
Bullrider Wyatt Millgate, 21, has been competing since he was just five-years-old and is thrilled to ride in Cairns.
“This is my first time in Cairns with the PBR and it is one of the bigger events of the year,” he said.
One of Mr Millgate’s big dreams is to ride in the USA so placing in this event is very important.
“It’s double points this weekend and I have been preparing all week, I think I have a good chance of winning,” he said.
