A Normanton man has died following a fatal motorcycle crash in his home town on Tuesday, June 13.

Initial police investigations indicate a motorcycle was travelling along a dirt track west of Ellis St about 6pm when it crashed.

The 43-year-old rider was transported to hospital in a critical condition where he later died.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision to come forward.

The man is the second Far North road fatality in less than a week after a pedestrian, a man in his twenties, died on June 10 following a month-long fight for his life in hospital.

The man appeared to be lying on the road at the Midgenoo section of the Bruce Hwy when a 4WD struck him about 1.50am on May 8.

The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the separate incidents.
