New bar and club Dirty Laundry opens on Shields Street at Cairns City

SLIDING through a laundry chute will be just one of the novelties available at a new bar opening this week.
The much-talked about new bar Dirty Laundry will open on Thursday and is expected bring a vibrant energetic vibe to the CBD.
Owner Ricci Whelan said it will be a party place for Cairns five nights a week.
“Dirty Laundry is all about giving back to the punters, not only do you have to slide through a washing machine to get in, you will have an MC looking after you,” Mr Whelan said.
“When you walk out of there you will think this place is mad.
“We will always have an MC/DJ come in to talk to the crowd, to entertain, no one does it anymore.
The laundry chute will be one of the options people can use to get into the bar, the other one is a secret door.
Mr Whelan said the venue had a cool laundry theme.
“The whole place everywhere you look is set for an Instagram picture,” he said.
“Everything’s been personally made in there, that’s why its taken so long, you can’t go to the shop and order what we made.”
They have even manufactured the site to make it look like bubbles are around.
Mr Whelan said the venue would provide entertaining themed nights.
“We will be dropping little hints of what we are doing,” he said.
“We are open Wednesday to Sunday. We won’t be dropping everything at once.”
But Mr Whelan said he could reveal one themed night.
“Our Friday nights, we are going to go big,” he said.
“It’s called Back to the Future Fridays, we will be dropping everything from nineties, naughties, teens and now.”
Another exciting feature will be their cocktails.
“They are top secret cocktails, you will just have to wait to see it,” he said.
“They are not going to come in your average glass let’s just say that.”
The bar is located at 23-25 Shields Street, Cairns City.
