Nanum man charged with grievous bodily harm after alleged assault on Woree man
A 19-year-old man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm following an alleged altercation with a 24-year-old man in Cairns.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm following an alleged altercation with a 24-year-old man in Cairns on December 29, 2024.
Police allege the 24-year-old Woree man was walking along Shields Street in Cairns about 4.30pm and noticed a man looking upset.
It is alleged by police that he stopped to check on the man, before a verbal altercation ensued.
It is understood the 24-year-old continued walking before he was allegedly knocked to the ground a short time later by a group of males, who allegedly kicked and jumped on top of him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, including a fractured hip, a broken leg, severe bruising and swelling to his body.
On May 25, Weipa detectives charged a 19-year-old Nanum man with one count of grievous bodily harm and he is scheduled to appear in the Weipa Magistrates Court on June 11.
Detectives previously charged an 18-year-old Mareeba man and a 19-year-old Kewarra Beach man with one count each of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Investigations are ongoing.
