Mareeba man killed after being hit by truck on remote highway

THE Forensic Crash Unit has launched a probe into the death of a pedestrian on a remote Far North highway.
Police say on Thursday at around 1.10pm the man was struck by a truck at a worksite on the Burke Development Rd, north west of Chillagoe.
The 50-year-old from Mareeba man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigations by police and officers from Workplace Health and Safety are continuing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
