THE Far Northern rugby league community is in mourning following the tragic death of a local footballer.
Ailsa Satini, 20, of Babinda died following a multi-vehicle crash at the Enmore St and Reservoir Rd intersection, Manoora in the early hours of Saturday.
Ms Satini was a passenger in the sedan with her family, and the vehicle careered into a power pole following a collision with an SUV.
It is understood, among the passengers in the sedan, two were Ms Satini’s brothers.
Ms Satini was a footballer with the Innisfail Leprechauns women’s rugby league team, which played Edmonton Storm on Saturday.

Leprechauns club president Nick Souvlis said while players recognised the tragedy, they chose not to observe an official moment of silence on Saturday due to “how raw the situation” was, and all formalities would be held next weekend.
Cairns District Ruby League secretary and operations manager Pat Bailey said news “like this hurts”.
“When something happens to players, it’s like I’ve lost one of my own,” she said.
Ms Bailey said the loss had impacted the wider rugby league community.
“The Yarrabah girls were due to play at (Vico Oval), against the Kangaroos. But I told their (coaching staff), don’t make them if they can’t.
“They got to Kangaroos and they were very upset so they didn’t play.”
A number of patients were transported to hospital following the crash, including a 36-year-old Redlynch woman who was the sole occupant of the SUV.
A Cairns Hinterland Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman on Sunday said the 36-year-old was in a stable condition.
And she said the other occupants of the sedan, three men, aged 21, 26 and 34 were all in a stable condition too.
