A man has been killed after he was crushed to death by a car at the general aviation section of the Cairns Airport.
Emergency services were called to Aeroglen at the intersection of Tom McDonald Dr and Bush Pilots Ave at 12.14pm on Thursday to treat the seriously injured man.
Queensland Ambulance Service stated a man in his 40s was taken to the Cairns Hospital with life-threatening head and leg injuries.
“We had three paramedic units attend this one,” a QAS spokesman said.
Two Queensland Fire Department trucks and the Queensland Police Service also attended the Aeroglen incident, and remained at the scene into Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened in the car park of Hinterland Aviation.
It’s understood the injured man was working on a white Holden Commodore when the vehicle fell from supports lifting the car off the ground.
Reports from the scene indicate the man was under the car when it fell.
Queensland Police Service confirmed the man’s age of 46 and stated he was underneath a raised vehicle on Tom McDonald Drive when the car fell on him.
The man was taken to the Cairns Hospital with life-threatening head injuries and was later declared dead.
At 2.30pm a Barron River Towing tow truck removed the car from the carpark.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
