Man dead after quad bike crashes 5m down an embankment at Bellenden Ker
A tragedy has unfolded on a private property south of Cairns after a man died in a quad bike crash on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services have been called to attend a fatal quad bike crash on a Far North property on Tuesday afternoon.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed a man had died at the scene on a private property around 49km south of Cairns.
“Police were called at 2.10pm today (Tuesday) to a private property north of Babinda in Bellenden Ker,” he said.
“The quad bike appeared to have gone over a 20ft embankment.
“There is still one police crew at the incident.”
The representative said at 2.58pm, police called the state workplace safety agency.
“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland have been called to attend,” he said.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner under their investigation.”
Earlier, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services representative confirmed two crews were called to the incident at 2.10pm.
“We were advised of a quad bike crash about 2km north of Babinda near the Bruce Hwy,” he said.
“Our crews are on scene with Queensland Ambulance and police.
“The quad bike has gone 5m down an embankment and there was a person trapped underneath.
“Our technical rescue firefighters are liaising with police.”
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
Police have not released the name of the deceased.
