A prominent Tablelands tourism business forced to shut during Covid is throwing open its doors with a revamped menu and widespread demand from locals and visitors expected.

JAQUES Coffee at Mareeba will reopen its doors on May 4 after a Covid-induced pause and general manager Jason Jaques said bookings were coming in thick and fast.

“With Covid, the mandates and associated staffing challenges it was difficult for us to run a tourism business so we were waiting until things picked up,” he said.

“We’re very confident and looking forward to a very busy season.

“We have inbound tour operators, locals, motorbike groups, car clubs wanting to book tables – we’ve even got an inquiry for a baby shower,” Mr Jaques said.

The business has 15 staff.

He said the cafe had a new brunch and lunch menu featuring French-Australian cuisine.

The Jaques baristas will be serving signature espresso martinis at the licenced venue using the The Barista coffee liqueur made in collaboration with Wolf Lane Distillery.

“Coffee tours will also be running again just in time for the start of coffee harvest in north Queensland,” Mr Jaques said.

Jaques Coffee is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
