WITH less exposure sites being listed on Queensland Health, some residents are questioning whether check-ins should still be in use but health authorities say it is vital to keep using the app.

A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service spokesman said the system played an important role.

“It is vital Far North Queenslanders continue to check in using the Qld Check In app,” he said.

Queensland Health will only be updating the website for super spreader events or major outbreaks.

“It’s especially important when we end up with super spreader events,” he said.

“A super spreader event could happen at a local cafe, a festival, a graduation, a restaurant, a birthday celebration, a school or a music gig.

“We don’t know until after the fact and that is why it’s important people keep doing the right thing by checking in.”

Martine Foletti, from Holloways Beach, said she would keep checking in because Covid is in the community now.

“I check in for the businesses. So that people don’t have to ask cause it must be really painful for people in business right now,” she said.
