COLOURFUL lifelike sculptures have been displayed across the domestic terminal at Cairns Airport to showcase the creatures in the Great Barrier Reef.
The sculptures include a clown anemonefish, grey reef shark, green sea turtle and humphead Maori wrasse.
Cairns Aquarium CEO Daniel Leipnik said the project was all about having fun while learning about reef life.
“Getting kids and families excited about their holiday to Cairns as soon as they hop off the plane and letting them take quite a remarkable photo is a great holiday starter,” Mr Leipnik said.
Simone Hutchinson from South Australia said it was great for her kids.
“It’s a good talking point and will get them talking about animals and where they live and their habitat,” Ms Hutchinson said.
