But before being dealt with by the courts the video reveals immediate punishment in the form of an alleged frenzied and sustained attack before police arrived at the scene.

People can be seen chasing the 36-year-old before setting upon him on the median strip.

At one stage the man’s head can be seen being repeatedly smashed into a concrete gutter.

He was taken to Cairns Hospital suffering from head injuries, however Queensland Ambulance Service have no record of the journey.

“A complete random man spat in my mouth and punched me in the nose,” Ms Vaele said on Thursday.

“(There was) blood everywhere and blurred vision within an instant.

“I was beaten badly, but I took every blow to the face, nose and head.”

She said two KFC workers stepped in to assist her and her pregnant sister-in-law, before help arrived.

“Don’t know who they are, but I’m truly grateful, as I could tell, they were quite fearful of the man,” she said.

A Cairns Hospital spokesman said the man was discharged from the facility on Tuesday.

He is expected to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 12.
