“The coroner will know that. If anyone tried to it will be discovered.

“So that is all being seized by police and then tomorrow independent detectives start interviewing all the police that were involved.”

Police said officers were called to the Love Street home in Mareeba around 11.30am on Saturday, following reports a man had threatened self harm.

Negotiators were notified to attend the scene and spoke with the man who allegedly had a woman with him and refused to let her leave.

Around 3.30pm, police allege the man advanced on specialist officers while armed with a knife.

Det Insp Goan said it would be a long process and all the evidence would eventually go before the coroner.

Det Insp Goan said police had made a promise to the man’s family to be engaged with them any time they wanted.

“We are happy to talk to family and we are happy to address the concerns of community.”

One man can be heard on the video asking for the officers who allegedly shot the man to be at the community meeting.

“They should be there too. You gotta make sure brother,” he is heard saying.

“I won’t be making sure that happens,” Det Insp Goan said.
