Detectives are investigating a house fire in Atherton.

The blaze at a house in Nye St erupted about 10am on April 28.

All occupants were accounted for and no one was injured.

A police spokesman said investigations into the cause of the fire were continuing, with police calling for witnesses, especially those with dashcam or CCTV captured in the area between 9am and 11am to come forward.

Seven fire crews battled to contain the blaze, which burned a short distance from a local school.

Crews were initially unsure if anyone was inside the house.

“The fire initially began in the kitchen and spread to the bedroom, where it was contained,” the spokeswoman said.

“When crews arrived, the building was heavily smoke-logged.

“Our fire investigation unit will be attending the scene with police.”

Three fire crews arrived on the scene of the blaze about 10.15am and extinguished it at 11.15am.

The structure is located a stone’s throw from Atherton State School but the properties are separated by a creek.

Paramedics were on standby in case of casualties.

“The house is fully engulfed,” a QAS spokeswoman said.

“There was no-one at the house.”
