The Australian federal election is being held today, with voting closed from 6pm.
The Far North has two federal seats, Leichhardt and Kennedy.
Residents will be voting for eight candidates in Kennedy.

Kennedy covers the entire northern outback of Queensland.
It includes Normanton, Burketown and The Gulf Country, Mt Isa and the pastoral districts stretching east along the Flinders Highway to Charters Towers.
It includes a strip of coast from just north of Townsville through to Ingham, Innisfail and the southern suburbs of Cairns.
The electorate also includes the Atherton Tablelands and Cape York south of the Mitchell River.
It has had only seven members over the last century, including two father and son teams, Labor’s David Riordan (1929-36) and son Bill (1936-66), and the two Bob Katters, Senior (1966-90) and Junior since 1993.

There are eight candidates this election including (in ballot paper order) Annette Swaine for the LNP, Steven Clare (Independent), Carole Stanford (The Greens), Douglas Lush (Family First), Kate Harris (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation), Sharon Winn (Australian Labor Party), Mark Wescott (Trumpet of Patriots), Bob Katter (Katter’s Australian Party).
