Gillies Range Road closes after multi-vehicle crash

Another major FNQ road has been closed following a multi-vehicle crash. It comes off the back of a truck rollover closing a well-travelled highway earlier on Saturday.

UPDATE: A second major FNQ road was closed following a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said they received a call about 12.23pm about a traffic crash along Gillies Range Road near Robson Track.

He said there were no injuries reported however the road would be blocked for some time.

The road reopened about 4pm.

Earlier in the morning Kuranda Range Road was partially blocked while police tried to extricate a truck after it rolled.

The road has now reopened.

EARLIER, 12.15PM: Police expect traffic to be flowing again on a major Far North highway within half an hour following a serious truck rollover earlier this morning.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the driver was taken to Cairns Hospital after the incident on the Kuranda Range Road, which occurred around 10.27am.

The spokesman said the road was partially blocked as emergency services tried to extricate the truck, which had rolled off the road.

EARLIER, 10.30AM: Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a truck rollover on a major FNQ highway.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said a truck was involved in a single vehicle rollover on the Kennedy Highway, about 3km north of the lookout on the Macalister Range.

The spokesman said the incident was reported at 10.27am and that the truck appeared to have rolled off the road.

Police requested motorists to take care around the area.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is advising that a lane or lanes are reduced as a result of the incident.

Motorists can expect delays.
