AN ALLEGEDLY drunk and possibly drug-affected woman behind the wheel of a stolen sports car has been refused bail in a Cairns court after police allege she rammed two police vehicles in a wild bid for freedom.

Three women and a man were arrested on Friday night at 10.20pm after they allegedly drove the stolen 2021 model Mustang into the police vehicles at the Brinsmead Mobil service station.

Detective Inspector Kevin Goan said the 35-year-old driver stopped for fuel on the Western Arterial Rd and, while the male passenger was paying for petrol, officers boxed the Mustang in.

The driver allegedly rammed the unmarked police vehicle in front then reversed into the second police four-wheel-drive.

“She was certainly motivated to be ramming to police vehicles and clearly endangering the safety and wellbeing of our officers in making good her escape,” he said.

“She has been charged with a mid-range drink driving offence. There is nothing at the minute in terms of any toxicology, but the drugs were found in her possession.”

Leading up to the ramming, police allege around 7.30pm 35-year-old Yarrabah woman, Chayenne-Elizabeth Doolan allegedly stole a set of car keys from a Kiernan St home in Manunda and left the area.

Police allege she later returned and stole the Ford Mustang parked in the driveway.

Det Insp Goan highlighted the danger of an alleged drink driver at the wheel of a high performance vehicle.

“That’s a concern of ours for the safety of the public,” he said.

“It’s a probability that she was also drug affected. And that presents a risk to the community.

“Actions of police on the evening were sound, they responded in a manner to make sure that the vehicle did not leave the service station and did not present a risk to anyone else outside of their policing actions that occurred within the service station grounds.”

The 35-year-old driver Chayenne-Elizabeth Doolan was refused bail on a long string of charges including unlawful use and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, mid-range drink driving, possession of a dangerous drugs and obstruct police.

She is scheduled to reappear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 23.

Two female passengers, including 20-year-old Manoora woman Telita Footscray, 18-year-old Mooroobool woman Shaniqua Ara and 29-year-old Parramatta Park man Caleb Geesu were granted bail to reappear on August 16.
