Mining magnate Clive Palmer’s multimillion-dollar superyacht has been spotted in the Far North, just weeks after it got stuck on a sandbank in the Gold Coast.
Palmer’s 56-metre vessel, Australia, is currently docked at the Marlin Marina and has been there since Friday, the day the billionaire hosted the Freedom Conference at the Cairns Convention Centre with Tucker Carlson.
Cairns marked the first leg of the national tour and Palmer has spent the week across the country bringing the show to major capital cities.
Australia’s rest in tropical north waters comes after the $40m vessel became stranded on a Gold Coast sandbank in early June and had to be towed out by a tugboat.
The 56-metre yacht also ran into trouble abroad in October last year, when it was rescued after running aground off the coast of Singapore.
Palmer bought Australia in 2021, in a major upgrade from his previous boat, the $8m and 35m Nancy Jean.
The glitzy yacht features two sundecks, an outdoor and indoor bar, a jacuzzi and can accommodate two dozen guests and crew.
Palmer, whose net wealth was last year estimated at $23.66bn, celebrated his 70th birthday with family and friends aboard the boat in the Brisbane River in March.
