A Far North dressmaker is over the moon after a Hollywood A-lister dropped into her store to buy a $25 dress for his daughter. HOW TO GET THE LOOK

UPDATE: IT was a dream come true for a Mareeba dressmaker when a Hollywood A-lister bought her handcrafted $25 dresses for his one-year-old daughter.

The big win for local dressmaker Ria Sanderson, came after the Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom visited a local craft store in Mossman — Oh Sew Crafty which is run by Margaret Dickinson.

“I was down in Mossman yesterday and the lady who sells the dresses told me that Orlando Bloom had been in the shop and he had bought two dresses. I thought to myself that’s lovely, really it is.”

“He must’ve driven past [the shop] and saw the dresses hanging outside, and it made him pull up and had a look, it is really nice to know that somebody like that likes my dresses”.

“Margaret was so over the moon, when she told me she was jumping up and down, and I agreed with her because that is just something that doesn’t happen in a small town like Mossman, we used to live down that way before we shifted to Mareeba.”

Ms Sanderson has been making the handmade garments for customers worldwide over three years, and says she focuses mostly on the quality and the matching colours.

“I have sold quite a few of them, a lot of them have been sent to America, England and New Zealand and in Australia to different states.”

“I use good materials, I try to match up colours that look good, I don’t put colours together that I find a bit dubious, and they do have nice laces on them, I always do look for nice laces to put on dresses.

All of Ms Sanderson’s dresses are sold at Oh Sew Crafty Mossman for just $25, with designs and patterns rotating approximately every two weeks. The store also sells arts and crafts supplies, as well as sewing machine and overlocker servicing.

Owner of Oh Sew Crafty in Mossman, Margaret Grace Dickinson previously told the Cairns Post that she initially didn’t recognise the A-lister when he entered the store.

“I thought he looked familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it, it was only when a photographer came in on Monday and said “do you realise Orlando Bloom was in your shop”,

“And he showed me the picture and I said I remember, I knew he was familiar”.

Hoax claims after Kim Kardashian pictured in LA, hours before supposed FNQ trip

EARLIER: CELEBRITY sightings are causing quite a buzz in FNQ, with actor Orlando Bloom and his partner, Katy Perry spotted shopping around Port Douglas and Mossman.

Manager of Choo Choos at the Marina Port Douglas Bec Stemp, said it was “awesome” having Perry visit the cafe over the weekend, despite one small blunder.

“One of the girls served her and we didn’t know it was her straight away, and she was wanting to sit on our big table and we don’t sit people on the big table unless they’re a big group, and she was sort of like ‘No you can’t sit there’” she said.

“But she was so nice, really really lovely, it was awesome. She ordered smashed avo on toast, sausages and a latte”.

Ms Stemp added that there has been an increase in customers since Perry’s visit due to the media frenzy.

“We have actually had a lot of people come in since we were in the (media)”.

Owner of Oh Sew Crafty in Mossman, Margaret Grace Dickinson had an unexpected visit from Bloom on Friday, as he shopped for dresses for his daughter.

“I thought he looked familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it, it was only when a photographer came in on Monday and said “do you realise Orlando Bloom was in your shop?”.

The actor purchased two locally-made, one-of-a-kind dresses from the store.

“They are the most gorgeous dresses, a lady in Mareeba makes them. They’re all original, so no two are alike” Ms Dickinson said.

Despite all the excitement surrounding the star’s visit, Ms Dickinson wants nothing more than a photograph of the famous tot in her new frocks.

“I’d love a photo of Daisy Dove in the little dresses, the lady who makes them would love to see the photos too, she’s so thrilled that her original designs are on a famous child.”

Cairns tourists were also excited to hear reports of Pete Davidson being seen outside Crystalbrook Flynn on Tuesday.

Amber Hill from the NSW Central Coast was hanging around the city all of Tuesday but did not see the Saturday Night Live comedian.

“I think it’s pretty cool, it’s a pretty random city for them to come to, tucked away in the far Eastern corner of Australia so I think it’s pretty awesome they are here” she said.

“I’ll be on the look out.”

CEO of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree Tara Bennett says despite all the celebrity buzz, she hopes the stars can enjoy the region “without too much hype”.

“There is certainly buzz around town. We aim to be a leisurely holiday destination, and we would very much like our celebrities to enjoy it in the same way”.
