FAMILIES from all over Australia dressed in their wackiest alien costumes over the weekend from The Jetsons to Spock for the Cardwell UFO Festival.
The event had massive market days, a C-Files tour and an Alien Invasion Foreshore Party where people enthusiastically got into the theme.
Festival co-ordinator Thea Ormonde said it was the event’s best ever turnout.
“I think we’ve definitely captured a lot of the winter travellers that were coming this way,” she said.
“We’ve been talking to people from Melbourne, some people from Sydney came just for this.”
Ms Ormonde said people from Cairns and Townsville definitely supported the event too.
A huge hit from the weekend was the C-Files tour over Saturday and Sunday.
“When we put the tickets for sale for those tours they sold out in three hours,” she said.
“It took people out the back of Cardwell to different locations where people have seen unexplained stuff like Yowie sightings, to different locations where people have seen lights in the sky and orbs in the forest.”
Ms Ormonde said the success of the event would help for next years planning.
“Next year is our tenth anniversary so it was a good indicator to see how we need to get ready for next year,” she said.
