Emergency crews are on the scene of a single-car crash in Far North Queensland, where a vehicle struck a power pole and is now stuck on the train tracks.
First responders arrived within 40 minutes of the incident to the corner of Clyde Road, near Howard Kennedy Drive in Babinda, and confirmed there were no entrapments.
A spokesman for Queensland Fire Department said one person was being assessed by paramedics.
“The vehicle collided with a power pole and has become stuck on a nearby rail line,” he said.
“We are currently working to remove the car from the railway lines.”
The spokesman said both Ergon and Queensland Rail was notified on the crash and impact to the power pole and rail lines.
“Efforts are being made to clear the scene and ensure safety,” the QFD spokesman said.
Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said they believe the incident is related to a medical episode.
“We have limited details at this time, but the patient has been transported to Innisfail Hospital,” he said.
Queensland Rail confirmed the crash has not affected rail traffic, as the train lines were already closed due to weather-related closures.
Ergon Energy are currently looking into the situation.
