Cairns stolen car: Thieves take two cars while Parramatta Park family sleeps

A YOUNG family has been left with no means of transport after thieves crept through their home while they slept and stole both of their cars.
The family of four woke on Saturday morning to find the door to their Martyn St home open in Parramatta Park.
Both of their vehicles were missing, including one car that had only arrived from interstate the previous day.
Police have been notified of the theft and are understood to be on the lookout for a red Hyundai Accent Sport (registration 1QC8AO) and a black Ford Territory (1AQ7HB).
Both vehicles had Victorian number plates.
Scenes of crime officers attended the home on Saturday morning.
A QPS spokeswoman said there were three other break-ins in Parramatta Park overnight spread across Minnie and Bungalow streets.
A car was stolen from one home and personal property from the other two.
Two of the addresses were homes and one was a restaurant.
According to police data to March 7, 26 vehicles had been stolen between Gordonvale and the northern beaches, which equated to an average of 3.7 cars stolen each day.
Car theft rates plummeted to 58 for the month of February, which police attributed to key offenders being denied bail and a push to shut off fuel pumps used by suspected juvenile car thieves.
