TRADITIONAL dining has made way for a fun new experience at Cairns’ newest restaurant which celebrated its official opening on Thursday.
Seasoned Cairns hospitality couple Tiina and Carlton Horn have opened their latest eatery – Little Sister, in place of Raw Prawn at Cairns Esplanade, which they closed in April.
The Asian-focused restaurant began serving with a soft opening on May 19, with its official opening a week later.
Ms Horn said the new menu was catered for the share-plate experience, parting ways with the traditions of an entree and mains.
“So far it’s been well-received, but it’s something we’ll constantly be monitoring to make sure it’s smooth,” Ms Horn said.
“Everything on the menu is designed to be shared among two people at least, and even six people. It’s meant to be a bit more fun, but it gives people the chance to try a lot more. It’s the way we like to eat when we go out, and when you look at what other restaurants are doing when you travel, the shared dining experience is becoming popular.”

Ms Horn said her recommendations from the menu was the bite-sized betel leaf which “packed a punch with flavour” and the coral trout wings which featured “a really tender flesh”.
