Cairns police arrest 20 people on 195 charges
Police from the Cairns Property Crime Squad and the Cairns Tactical Crime Squad arrest 20 people including seven teenagers on 195 charges after a 72 hour operation across the region.

ON Christmas Eve, Cairns police confirmed that over the past 72 hours, officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad have arrested 20 people and charged them with a total of 195 charges.
A police spokesman confirmed that in the most recent incident on December 23, officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad and the Cairns Tactical Crime Squad arrested and charging seven teenagers on 94 property related offences which occurred in the Cairns area.
Police will allege the group had been driving stolen vehicles around Cairns and committed multiple property related offences.
An 18-year-old man, two 17-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were charged with a total of 94 charges.
The charges include unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, enter dwelling with intent, stealing and possessing tainted property.
Police opposed bail for the 18-year-old man, and he appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court on December 24,
The two 17-year-old boys, 16-year-old boy, 14-year-old boy, 17-year-old girl and 16-year-old girl are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Children’s Court at later date.
