Cairns lotto winner scores $202,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw

A Cairns man in his final decade of work wins the lottery mega jackpot draw, easing his mortgage stress as a bonus.

A CAIRNS man who’d played the lotts “for a while” now has scored a cool $202,000 in a mega jackpot draw, receiving the surprising news while at work.

The Far North Queensland player held the first prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1575, drawn Monday, June 6.

He scored the $200,000 first prize, plus a consolation prize.

“I’m just at work. I’ll have a big smile on my face all day now,” the man said when called by The Lott.

“That is just terrific. “I’ve played Lucky Lotteries for a while now. I’m always living the dream that I might win one day … and now I have.

“I’m in my last decade of my working life, so this will take care of that last bit of the mortgage, and I won’t be stressing so much.”

His winning entry of 10 consecutive numbers was purchased online at thelott.com

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $10.85 million for draw 1576, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $14.96 million for draw 10586.

In 2021, 127 Lucky Lotteries first prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $32.95 million.

It comes just weeks after a Western Australian man who was visiting friends in Cairns collected $1 million after a random decision to by a lotto ticket while in the Far North.

And the most recent winning isn’t the only elderly winner looking to settle a mortgage, in December last year, a Cairns grandma won over $580,000 after purchasing a ticket online and declaring she’d be paying off her home.
