Cairns crime: Far North mother speaks after break-in

A Far North mother has said she was horrified after some items were stolen while her family were sleeping in their new home. But she was shocked to find they had taken one thing. WHAT WAS IT

A FAR North mother has said she was horrified after credit cards, car keys and pastries were stolen from her home while her family were sleeping in their new home.

Janelle Eden said it was a rough few days when her Whitfield home was broken into a few weeks ago.

“I had no idea we were broken into. Waking up that morning was the first time I had realised. So for myself and my family it was a bit scary.

“It was a really horrible few days to come to grips, to know, they walked past my sons room and daughters room. Knowing they were looking through our stuff.”

Ms Eden said the whole computer system in her car had to be changed because her keys were stolen but not the vehicle.

“They did happen to eat my pastries in the kitchen,” she said.

“It’s hungry work this break and enter. I got mad at the kids thinking they were up at 2am in the morning eating.”

Ms Eden said she was grateful that police called her a few weeks later to say a neighbour had found some of her belongings.

“She was beautiful enough to hand in my stuff.”
