Popular restaurant chain Cafe 63 has officially opened its first store in Far North Queensland at Raintrees Shopping Centre.
The dog-friendly restaurant, operated by Kate and Tim Lee is widely known for its vast and quirky menu with fun names including a breakfast dish called Test Match, a burger named after Marilyn Monroe and kids meals named after characters including Snow White and Donald Duck.
Director of 63 Group Hamish Watson said the cafe, which also sells fresh flowers, had a long list of ‘extras’ which can be added to meals or used to create your own meal.
“There are over 100 menu items and we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day which ensures the choices are endless,” Mr Watson said.
Mr Watson said operator Kate Lee worked at the original Cafe 63 in Ascot, Brisbane for six years and knows the brand very well.
“The Cairns region is a growing area and one of the most beautiful in Australia so it makes sense to offer Cairns locals a cafe that is growing and very popular,” Mr Watson said.
The famous menu will offer over 100 items with a long list of extras for patrons to add or create their own meals.
Another signature quirk of the franchise is its Astro turfed area at the counter, a feature in many locations, including Cairns.
“You may even see one of our Astro turf covered cars driving around the region,” Mr Watson said.
Mr Watson said he was looking forward for the franchise to become part of the Cairns community.
In 2019 a Cafe 63 was proposed for DFO in Westcourt, however its understood the venture never went ahead.
