Bruce Highway reopens at Mirriwinni after truck and car crash

UPDATE: A female patient in her 50s has been flown to Cairns Hospital in a serious condition after she was trapped in a crash between a car and a truck on the Bruce Highway at Mirriwinni about 11.15am.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said a male in his 30s was taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition with pelvic injuries while a female in her 30s and an infant were taken to Innisfail hospital with minor injuries.
The Bruce Highway reopened in both directions about 2.15pm after it was shut for about three hours.
EARLIER, 12.30PM: EMERGENCY services have rushed to a multi-vehicle crash involving a truck and a car on the Bruce Highway at Mirriwinni.
A Queensland ambulance spokeswoman said a female in her 50s was trapped in a serious condition with jaw, neck and lower leg injuries.
She said a male patient had lumbar and spine injuries while a female patient and infant appeared with no injuries.
A helicopter response has been deployed. The Bruce Highway has been closed in both directions at Mirriwinni since 11.15am. A police spokesman said the roads would be closed for at least a couple of hours and to avoid the area if possible.

The crash occurred near the cane railway line and the Bucklands Rd intersection, opposite the Mobil service station with an employee reporting she “only just got through to work.”
She said there were multiple emergency services at the scene including three fire trucks and three police vehicles an the rescue helicopter landed in the park behind the service station about 12.15pm.
