After 138 days on the Pacific Ocean three brothers are on the cusp of finishing a record-breaking row in Cairns later this week.

Setting out from Lima, Peru, on April 12 three brothers Jamie (31), Lachlan, (26) and Ewan Maclean (32) have weathered everything the tempestuous Pacific Ocean has thrown at them.

And on Friday afternoon the three man crew after a 14,000km row are expected to feel terra firma beneath their feet for the first time in more than four months when they tie up at the Marlin Marina.

On day 137 an audio log from the boat reported that rowers had rounded the southern tip of Flinders Reef, 200kms southeast of Cairns.

“We are essentially on our rhumb line to Cairns,” one brother said.

“I can’t quite believe I’m saying that, we are on course to continue our trajectory until we turn the corner into Cairns Bay.”

More than setting out to compete the fastest non-stop, and unsupported row the Scott trio aim to raise £1m for clean water projects through the The Maclean Foundation that was set up in 2023.

Money raised from the Pacific row will be delivered in Madagascar through partner charity, Feedback Madagascar.
