A TEENAGE boy has died at the scene of a motorbike and truck crash at Irvinebank, near Cairns.
The 14-year-old motorbike rider, a local boy, was travelling west on Herberton Petford Road on Tuesday afternoon when the crash happened.
Early investigations by Forensic Crash Unit police officers indicate the teenager came around a bend on the unsealed section of road and collided with a truck which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The boy died at the scene and investigations into the accident are continuing.
The teenager’s death follows a horror spate of fatal accidents on the Tablelands, including the death of Mareeba man Jeff Ali at Chillagoe on January 13, the death of Wondecla man Luke McDonald at Emerald Creek Falls on January 16, the death of Tinaroo man Sean McMahon in a car crash on January 16 and the death of a 74-year-old Mareeba man in a farm accident on January 16.
