THE first Ben and Jerry’s store in Cairns is opening this weekend with special nights expected in the coming weeks.
Cairns franchisee Nick Lorentzen said he is excited for it to come together after a great effort from his team.
“I am delighted to be bringing the Ben and Jerry’s brand to Far North Queensland,” Mr Lorentzen said.
“Ben and Jerry’s are heavily invested in social mission which is something that is close to our hearts. We want to make sure we honour that locally.”
Mr Lorentzen has done that by bringing an Indigenous artist to curate a mural to make this store different to any others.
Westcourt artist Catherine Curnow curated a mural that represented her family history and to represent celebration.
To celebrate the store’s opening there will be a special VIP night on October 5 and a free cone night on October 12.
Ben and Jerry’s will be open 10am until 11pm every day and is located at Shop 113/38 Abbott Street, Cairns.
